Microforms Reader/Printer -- At Last!

If you use microfiche or microfilm resources, you'll be happy to know that our brand new microforms reader/printer is slated for delivery this week. We appreciate everyone's patience, and Craft Memorial Library's willingness to allow our users to use their microforms reader/printer.

If you haven't used our microforms before, you'll find decades of New York Times newspapers on microfilm, hundreds of journals on microfiche, and thousands of ERIC education research reports on microfiche.

In Motion: The African-American Migration Experience

In Motion: The African-American Migration Experience is a new resource from the Schomburg Center at the New York Public Library. From the site's home page:

Of the thirteen defining migrations that formed and transformed African America, only the transatlantic slave trade and the domestic slave trades were coerced, the eleven others were voluntary movements of resourceful and creative men and women, risk-takers in an exploitative and hostile environment. Their survival skills, efficient networks, and dynamic culture enabled them to thrive and spread, and to be at the very core of the settlement and development of the Americas. Their hopeful journeys changed not only their world and the fabric of the African Diaspora but also the Western Hemisphere.
Very highly recommended.

Browse through nursing journals from home

Need a nursing journal article to critique? Want to browse through some nursing journals? Head for our Mountain Library Network catalog, do a subject search for Electronic Journals at Bluefield State College, and select the first item in the results. This will take you to a list of nursing journals available in full-text through our subscription databases. You can select issues and browse through tables of contents to find articles of interest. Stop by the library if you need passwords for off-campus use. Major thanks to Peggy Turnbull for making this work!

Finding articles -- choosing an index

A few items of interest: Are you confused about which electronic index to use? We have a brief guide to selecting a database available in Adobe Acrobat format.

New in the library -- a blog!

Welcome to the Hardway Library blog!

This is a place to find out about new resources, exhibits, and events in the library. I'll be updating several times a week with announcements, links, book reviews and information.
